What is the difference between the App Password and Access Code?
App Functionality
When using the DAU Key with the DAU Vault, you will be asked to enter an App Password and an Access Code. Here's the difference between the two:
App Password: This password protects your DAU Vault app, restricting unauthorised access and management. You will be asked to set it up when creating a new wallet (hot or cold) and can use biometrics for easier access. The app password remains the same regardless of how many hot or cold wallets you have within the app.
Access Code (for DAU Key Card only): This additional security layer is a password linked to your DAU Key cards (only available with 2 or 3 card sets). You set it up during the DAU Key card backup process. You'll need to enter this code whenever you use the physical DAU Key card. Access code is not applicable for single DAU Key cards or hot wallets.
Here's when you need each:
Hot Wallet: You'll need the app password (or biometrics) to access the app and manage sensitive actions like viewing private keys or changing the app password. You don't need it for transfers.
Cold Wallet: You'll need the app password (or biometrics) to access the app. Additionally, if you have a 2 or 3 card set, you'll also need to tap the physical DAU Key card and enter the access code to perform any actions within the cold wallet, including transactions.
